The Harbour Christmas Market at the Cologne Chocolate Museum is an annual pre-Christmas event. Due to the special current circumstances, it is extremely welcome this year. However, it will take place differently than usual due to corona.
An extraordinary, very successful Christmas market
For the newcomers: as the name suggests, the Harbour Christmas Market takes place on a fairytale stage right on the Rhine. The concept of the market combines a Christmassy atmosphere and seafaring flair in a very attractive result. The wooden floors and the pointed roofs of the tents are immediately reminiscent of the marine world. In addition, real sailors offer delicious fish specialties and drinks from all over the world.
The main attraction, however, is the three-master wooden ship ‘Trudel’, the emblem of the Christmas market, where guests can enjoy hot mulled wine. Visitors also have the opportunity to take a ride on the Ferris wheel and visit the Chocolate Museum. The ultimate Christmas combination.
What coronavirus measures are being taken?
According to the organizers, the “Harbour Christmas Market” will be changed to “Harbour Christmas”. In other words: the offer is exclusively culinary. This means that, unfortunately, some of the nice stalls from other years will be absent this time.
The organization also applies hygiene and infection protection rules that already apply to the catering industry. Namely: registration, fixed seats, keeping safe distances, wearing a mask when you leave your seat… If that wasn’t enough, the event will also take place outside. There is probably no better ventilation!
Incredibly, Corona has its advantages: fixed seats and safety distances mean fewer people, so no crowds. A unique opportunity to enjoy and relax. Come on board!
