MyHeritage, a company specializing in genealogy, launched an app last week that is revolutionizing our memories. It’s called Deep Nostalgia and enables photos to be brought to life with the help of artificial intelligence.
The principle is simple. You take any photo – of your grandparents or great-grandparents, for example. After registering on the MyHeritage website, you upload it to the Deep Nostalgia tool. And in just a few seconds, the photo comes to life.
Here is an example:
As you can see, the people in the picture start to move and change their facial expressions after editing… Just like in a Harry Potter movie! Deep Fake technology, which we already see used in viral videos and even advertising, is used for this.
In fact, the launch of the app was so successful that it is already one of the most downloaded apps in the Apple Store just a few days after its launch. And as you would expect on the internet, it has breathed new life into numerous classic memes.
MyHeritage has published an article explaining how the effect is achieved. Super exciting for anyone who wants to learn a little more about deep fake technology.
